Senior Systems Engineer
Summary:
Farecast, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join its team in Seattle, WA. As a Senior Systems Engineer you would be responsible for production, development, and corporate environments. You would provide 24x7 production support and management of systems, platforms, and processes; and you would support the development and office staff for issues with systems running Linux, Mac OS X, or Windows. You would be assisting in the management of our NOC operations, using tools to proactively monitor, troubleshoot and resolve issues.
As part of our operations team you would be involved with designing, building and deploying new systems and infrastructure components. As part of this effort, you will research and investigate new technologies to help fuel our growth.
Candidates must have experience in the following areas:
- Systems administration experience in real world production environments with Unix/Linux (minimum 7 years)
- Experience with Tomcat or Jboss, Apache and MySQL on Linux (minimum 5 years)
- Experience with VPN/Firewall/Network design, implementation and support
- Strong understanding of IP-based communications and systems monitoring
- Experience with load balancing/clustering of web and database servers
- Must have strong troubleshooting skills, be very detail oriented, and utilize the ability to multi-task
- Ability to program in one or more of the following: C/C++, SQL, PHP, Perl, shell scripting and/or Java
- Experience supporting Windows, Mac, and Linux desktops
- Ability to work in a fast-paced company in startup mode
- DBA experience with Oracle or MySQL preferred (a strong plus)
- Experience with the following gear: Network Appliance storage, Cisco networking equipment, and/or Netscaler load balancers (preferred)
- Co-location operations experience a plus
- Candidate with a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent degree, strongly preferred.

Software Design Engineer in Test
Summary:
Farecast, Inc. seeks a talented, passionate and experienced individual to be responsible for the testing of the company's high-traffic consumer-facing ecommerce web site.
The Software Quality Engineer is expected to drive quality improvement initiatives, maintain overall site quality, along with test planning, test case development, test automation, and executing test plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, write, execute and maintain automated and non-automated test scripts
- Design and execute performance benchmarks across multiple browsers
- Collaborate successfully with multi-discipline product development teams
- Update and maintain product quality data in internal systems
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Minimum 5 years experience in software testing
- Experience in building testing frameworks and in test automation
- Hands on application of various testing methodologies
- Solid understanding of web technologies including Java, Javascript, CSS, XML, HTML, SQL, JSP, and Java Servlets
- Intimate knowledge of bug tracking software
- Process oriented with the ability to pay close attention to details
- Passion for testing , a self-starter with initiative and willing to learn new technologies quickly and independently
- Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast paced multi-project start-up environment with minimum supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

Account/Sales Executive
Summary:
Farecast, Inc. is seeking a talented new addition to our growing marketing and sales team to handle online marketing and ad sales duties for our award-winning Web 2.0 travel website. Farecast is in a high-growth stage and qualified applicants can expect to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a team of experienced online marketers on initiatives to sign on new advertisers and to grow and service existing advertisers. The account executive will be responsible for managing contracts with advertisers in relationship with fulfilling the available inventory on the site and also pitch potential advertisers on new products available from Farecast. The account executive will also help with managing the marketing programs at Farecast to drive qualified visitors through SEM, lead generation, and traditional media channels.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Online Ad Sales experience (Bring on new clients, expanding existing client relationships across all Farecast product lines)
- Client service experience (Provide updates to clients on existing campaign trending, performance and resolve any billing/technical issues)
- Strong analytics and data analysis skills (Web analytics, Excel)
