How Fare Guard™ Works

What is Fare Guard?

Fare Guard is an innovative new service that allows you to protect today's lowest fare and avoid getting burned by price increases. Whether you're waiting for fares to drop or firming up travel plans, Fare Guard gives you peace of mind when you decide to buy later.

Step 1 – Find and purchase a Fare Guard

To find a Fare Guard, search for flights and Fare Predictions. If fares are predicted to drop or hold steady, a Fare Guard button may appear. Click on the button and purchase a Fare Guard to protect the lowest fare from your search over the next seven days.

Note: the Guarded Price is the lowest fare for your search, not for specific flights.

Step 2 – Track fares over 7 days

After you purchase a Fare Guard, we will send you a Fare Guard Daily Tracker email that shows you whether fares have increased, decreased or stayed the same for your trip.

If fares increased, you will see the Fare Guard redemption value. If fares dropped, you will see the savings opportunity.

Step 3 – Book your ticket within 7 days

Use Farecast.com™ to shop for your trip and then buy directly at the airline's website.

Note: you can book any flights at any price for your specific trip (airports and dates). However, your maximum redemption amount is the difference between the lowest fare the day you booked and the Guarded Price.

Step 4 – Redeem Fare Guard

You can only redeem a Fare Guard if the lowest fare on the day you booked your trip is higher than your Guarded Price. To redeem, you must sign in to your account within 72 hours of booking and provide booking verification. After Farecast® has confirmed your eligibility, we will send you a check for the redemption value.
