How Deals Work

With our airline ticket Deals, Farecast® takes airfare science to a whole new level to save you money. We already collect billions of airfares to create our airfare predictions, and now we use that data to uncover cheap airline tickets. So the deals you see are based on science, not marketing.

How are Farecast Deals different?

Have you ever looked at an airline ticket price and wondered what made it a "deal"? Or have you ever seen a cheap flight that sounded good but then couldn't find what travel dates that deal might be available for? With our Deals, we help answer both of these questions.

How are deals found?

With billions of airfare observations at our fingertips, we start by finding the absolute lowest fare between two cities in the next 90 days. Once we have that, we compare that low fare to all the airfares we have on record to see how it matches up. We'll let you know if that low airfare saves you $25, $50 or more over the average airline ticket between those cities, and in some cases, we may even find you a cheap flight that meets or beats the lowest airfare we've ever seen! Note that deals are compiled on yesterday's lowest airfares and can change often.

Why is it a "deal"?

Once we find deals, we want you to understand what makes it a great fare and why we say it's based on "science, not marketing". Next to each deal, you will find a message explaining why we say each fare is a deal. Some examples include:

Record low - act fast Out of the millions of fares we have on record for this market, this deal matches or beats the lowest fare we've ever seen!
$ less than average low on record Out of the millions of fares we have on record for this market, this deal saves you a certain amount over the average lowest fare we've seen in the past.
Save $ off average low found today Looking at the lowest fares for this market for flights within the next 90 days, this deal saves you a certain amount over the average low fare for these future flights.

Each deal will offer an explanation about what makes it a "deal", and at times, you may find some messages are specific to weekend flights, weeklong trips, etc.

When is the deal available?

To help you find that deal (or one like it), we created a quick and easy calendar feature. The top calendar shows possible departure dates for that deal (or fares close to it). The bottom calendar shows return dates with both deals and regular fares. By clicking around, you can easily find the airfare deal and travel dates that work for you.

We also help you Know When to Buy that deal by providing our patented airfare prediction, and based on our data, we find that low fare deals often have a very short shelf life and typically expire within 50 hours. So don't miss out! Visit the Deals page to find a great airfare deal today.
